This is an easy test for measuring corrosion.

In the salt spray test the samples are placed in a salt spray cabinet (model SF/4), supplied by C & W Specialist Equipment, and tested in accordance with ASTM B117 specification.

At the end of the test the samples are carefully removed from the cabinet. They are allowed to dry for one hour before rinsing, in order to reduce the risk of removing corrosion products. Before examination any residues of spray solution are carefully removed from the sample surface. The assessment of corrosion is performed visually, and is based on personal judgement, consistency in judgement is maintained through out the test. As standard a report is provided, including digital colour photography.
